“Being part of the Bento team means working in a culture of trust and mutual respect”

At Bento, we are a team of professionals who genuinely care about people; we all wear many hats, and Bento is the kind of place where everyone is always willing to pitch in and help out. Our employees feel that working at Bento is about being part of a family.  Though we work hard together, we also grow together, and we encourage open communication, feedback, and discussion about any matter of importance to our teams.   Our successes are ultimately a result continuous teamwork and feedback.

  • Culture

We are also passionate about fostering a culture where people thrive and are promoted from within. The Bento Sushi culture is based on a fundamental belief in people and the potential they possess. We know everyone wants to learn and grow in their career. Bento encourages professional development and we seek to help everyone understand and develop their strengths and capabilities, relying on an individual’s own motivations to drive results.

  • Sushi Champion Competition

As a leader in innovation, Bento Sushi created the Sushi Champion competition, a company-wide contest held annually that aims to highlight the tremendous talent and creativity of our very own Bento chefs. While our team members’ creativity and passion for sushi is on display every single day, it is recognized and showcased during this event, when they battle it out for bragging rights and cash awards totaling up to $20,000.00!

  • Employee Appreciation Events

Our teams also look forward to the various employee appreciation events that are held throughout the year. Our regional Family Picnics and Annual Staff Dinners, contribute to the fun, friendly and diverse workplace environment that Bento is known for.

  • Bento Sushi Foundation

Bento Sushi is also proud of the Bento Sushi Foundation, an exciting organization within Bento with responsibility for the important mission of “giving back” to the various communities in which we serve. The Foundation allocates $100,000 per year to various initiatives proposed by our employees and other Bento stakeholders, in the areas of sustainable seafood causes, Japanese culture, community involvement and disaster relief organizations. Some of the events and charities that the Foundation has sponsored include the United Way Silent Auction, the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Film Festival, and the Food Banks of Canada. The Foundation also supports individual employee causes, such as educational scholarships for employees and their family members, and sports team sponsorships.
